Removing the rear calipers on a Lincoln LS is required if you're replacing the caliper, replacing the pads and or replacing the rotors. Having to replace the rear calipers is not a very common repair, but it does occur sometimes. Replacing the pads and rotors is more common, but to gain access to them, you'll demand to disengage the caliper from the rear knuckle. The just fourth dimension you demand to remove the hydraulic restriction line from the caliper is when you're replacing the caliper, however.

Pace 1

Practice not employ the parking brake prior to lifting the Lincoln LS and attempting to remove the rear restriction caliper(s). The parking brake is integrated with the rear caliper and applying it will prohibit you from removing the caliper.

Step 2

Break the rear lug nuts loose on the rear wheel(south) with a wheel nut wrench.

Pace 3

Elevator the rear beam of the LS with a jack and place it securely onto jack stands.

Pace 4

Remove the wheel basics and bicycle.

Step v

Identify a brake line crimp on the rear brake hose to help preclude losing too much restriction fluid.

Footstep 6

Identify a drain pan below the caliper where the restriction hose connects to the caliper.

Step 7

[Remove the banjo bolt](https://itstillruns.com/how-to-remove-the-banjo-bolt-13580107.html) from the brake caliper retaining the rear brake hose with a ratchet and suitable socket. Disconnect the rear restriction hose from the caliper. Information technology volition baste brake fluid slightly, and so exist sure to align the bleed pan properly.

Step 8

Undo the parking brake cable from the cam of the restriction caliper using a pair of pliers.

Step 9

Remove the 2 caliper guide bolts from the caliper and so pry if off the rear pads and rotor. Be conscientious, every bit brake fluid will however purge from the brake hose connection.

If desired, remove the pads from the caliper anchor and then remove the two caliper ballast bolts from the rear of the backing plate and knuckle.
